BUSINESS VS. RESIDENTIAL: TRACKING DSL REVENUE

Although DSL is now primarily a consumer-based technology, experts expect its enterprise applications to take off in the next few years. But business DSL revenue isn't just an added bonus to a core residential offering — the two are entirely different kinds of services. While consumer DSL is expected to garner most of its revenue from content, business DSL will generate a multibillion-dollar market for network services by 2007, according to Ovum Research. In fact, Ovum predicts that DSL will no longer be considered a service in the next five years but rather a vehicle by which to access broadband content and services.—Kevin Fitchard
