INTELLIGENCE FROM THE BROADBAND ECONOMY

Worldwide CDMA subscribers broke the 200 million total mark in the first half of this year, according to data released by the CDMA Development Group. Though still a distant second to GSM, CDMA is starting to see its star shine brighter around the globe. What was once a technology dominated by Korean and U.S. carriers has now dug significant roots among the sizable populations of Brazil, China and India as well as penetrating into numerous other Asian and South American countries. There are even CDMA saplings growing in Eastern Europe. Don't expect a major shift in CDMA dominance though. North America and the East Asia still account for more than 82% of the global subscriber base.
