GTE SELLS IOWA

GTE continued selling off non-core local exchanges last week, announcing a deal to sell 296 Iowa exchanges serving 280,422 access lines to Iowa Network Services. Iowa Telecommunications Services, a new joint venture between INS and Touch America, will operate the exchanges.
