FORECASTING THE NETWORK

The Telecommunications Industry Association released its annual Market Review and Forecast and is projecting some pretty magical numbers for national carriers over the next five years. According to its research (an amalgamation of its own studies and those of the FCC, KMI, Pioneer Consulting, IDC and several other research groups), carrier revenues will grow significantly by 2005 — especially in the local exchange. However, spending on network equipment and support services will drop considerably.
