FIBER Tellabs, Pirelli debut innovations
Two companies are demonstrating how they are resolving dilemmas in their areas of expertise during the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference '96 in Denver this week.

Tellabs will demonstrate how it is working with Lucent Technologies, Northern Telecom and Fujitsu Network Communications to achieve data communications connectivity among more than two vendors, said Rich Tatara, group marketing manager for Tellabs' digital systems division.
Pirelli Cable is introducing a new family of cables that eliminates the lubricant-like gel used to keep water out of cables. The KleenCore Cables, which use Pirelli's MarineCore technology, are dry, eliminating the time it takes workers to wipe down fibers, tubes and other cable components during sheath preparation, said Stuart Woods, senior product manager at Pirelli. The technology is immune to marine and other kinds of water.
