EQUIPMENT SALES UP
Factory sales of telecom equipment at the end of the third quarter totaled nearly $64 billion, a 19.4% increase over the same period in 1998, said the TIA. U.S. exports increased 11% to $16.5 billion. The largest sector of growth was in fiber optic cable, which jumped 41%.
