Engebretson named features editor

Telephony has named Joan Brightman Engebretson features editor/special projects director.

Engebretson will be responsible for planning, assigning and editing feature articles and special supplements that appear in Telephony. She replaces Karen Murphy, who was named Web editor responsible for internetTelephony, the magazine's World Wide Web publication, in June.

Engebretson previously served as director of marketing communications and information technology at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. She has also written freelance articles for Telephony, Global Telephony and other magazines.

Engebretson comes to Telephony with 12 years experience in marketing management positions, dealing with subjects ranging from telecommunications to electronic security products.

"Not only is Joan an excellent editor, she has been a regular contributor to our publications," said Steven Titch, Telephony's editorial director. "She knows the industry and has the benefit of knowing our readership and the technology coverage they want."
