E-Comms commands attention

Gig Harbor, Wash.-based E-Comms Inc. has been getting much attention lately in the field of disaster recovery and monitoring. At ComNet '99 earlier this year, the company demonstrated its Web-based E-Commander hardware management system in an application that used Fujitsu Software's NetPrism multiplatform network device management software.

In the customized application, network administrators can control E-Commander to provide power cycling, environmental control, device switching and many other functions regardless of the operating systems involved, said Robert Ellsworth, president of E-Comms.

E-Commander is TCP/IP compatible and uses simple network management protocol for the in-band network management functions. It serves as the single IP address for the application modules that connect to remote network devices.
