Clear goes four for five

Clear Communications has released the fourth network management element of its five-product Sonet surveillance intelligence suite in its Clearview Network Window system. ProbableCause is an isolator and diagnostic tool designed to pinpoint Sonet network problems.

Typically, a fiber cut, line degradation or other problem within a Sonet ring triggers different alarms as it travels through each of the many elements in a large, sophisticated system. "ProbableCause and the other products provide operations support system enhancements to use the capacity of Sonet and keep the existing OSS," said Robert Copithorne, president of Clear Communications.

The company's fifth product, CircuitView, is expected to be ready by the end of the year. It will offer a full view of a customer's network. The other three elements in the suite are EarlyWarning for predicting problems, ReportCard for evaluating network performance and LegacyGateway for making the transition to Telecommunications Management Network without losing legacy systems.
