NetScreen secures Cox Business
Cox Business Services is using NetScreen Technologies' NetScreen-5 integrated security services in its new high-speed commercial Internet offering, Cox Business 

Internet, which provides tiered bandwidth speeds to commercial customers. NetScreen's network access functionality helps Cox securely network multiple users as the hardware blocks unauthorized Internet traffic.

Moving from the edge to the mainstream

Edge-streaming media delivery company Vividon expanded its U.S. presence by opening sales offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Vividon's streamers allow ISPs and corporate networks to deliver on-demand streams of rich edia content by providing sustainable throughput capabilities to support more than 650 M/bs of content streams.


COMPETITION WATCH
House majority leader Rep. Dick Armey, R-Texas, said Congress will vote on the Tauzin-Dingell Bill in September. The House is expected to approve the measure, which should receive considerably more opposition in the Senate.

Verado Holdings announced the sale of its DSL customers to EarthLink and Covad Communications. The deal follows Verado's decision last quarter to sell its dial-up subscriber base to EarthLink.

EurekaGGN, a facilities-based CLEC, last week bought the New York assets of ISP Wired Environments. The acquisition was announced on the same day EurekaGGN completed a $20 million funding round.
