According to new data from Jupiter Research, people's perceptions of broadband are changing. What once was a high-end technology only for the most sophisticated users is becoming more broadly accepted by the average consumer. While penetration levels among most ISPs and carriers is still below the 10% mark, more narrowband users are either making the switch to broadband or seriously considering it.

Broadband users show little conformity in their reasoning for choosing one service provider over another, according to Jupiter Research. The plurality of users interviewed by Jupiter couldn't even state their reasons for selecting their ISP, and no other single factor generated more than 15% of the responses.
