Who said PCS was only for the big boys? PCS entrepreneurs bidding in the C block license auction earlier this year slugged it out, almost literally, for 184 bidding rounds over five months and pledged more than $10 billion for their PCS birth rights.

Together, the earlier A and B auction, which counted the biggest names of the telecom industry among its participants, raised almost $3 billion less. As these A and B licensees continue to build out their networks, the industry's eyes are also turning toward the top C block winners.
