Join us for the ultimate “How-To” event for Independents

Wish there was a manual for surviving the tough times ahead? You’re not alone. Telephony will be hosting the second annual INSIGHTs for ILECs, June 8 at SUPERCOMM 2009 in Chicago. This year’s theme is Survive and Thrive — something we’re all trying to do in today’s challenging market. Our one-day event promises to be your go-to survival guide for identifying and incorporating new revenues, and ways to tackle your biggest network problems with real-world solutions. Telephony’s editors, along with the industry’s leading Independent experts, will be presenting “how-to” instructions and in-depth analysis for rural and Independent telcos on these hot topic areas:

  • IPTV: Salvation or Distraction
Telcos need a video product to compete with cable companies but early deployments of IPTV have had more than their fair share of problems. Our discussion of this topic will include alternatives to the traditional IPTV, migration options for those unhappy with their current IPTV middleware and lessons learned from existing deployments.
  • Wireless: The Future of Broadband
An exploration of options for using the 700 MegaHertz spectrum to offer broadband services.
  • Independents’ Financial Future
We will explore partnerships among rural and independent telcos, including some that lead to mergers and acquisitions, and explore the advantages and challenges to such things as shared headends for video services, and partnering on new technology deployment.
  • Can Wireline Survive?
The acceleration of access line displacement has some companies writing off the wireline business but independent telcos serve a market that can ill afford to cut the cord. We will discuss ways to enhance basic voice service, as well as pricing and bundling options that will keep customers happy.
