Initially, MetaSolv will support Internet and MPLS-based IP-VPNs activation. The agreement also taps the vendor for future enterprise and consumer voice-over-IP applications as well as other IP-based services the carrier plans to offer, such as IPTV.
This brings the number of MetaSolv operator customers using its multi-vendor, multi-service activation solutions to more than 75 spread across 26 countries. The solutions are used for VoIP, IP-VPN, mobile, broadband, voice and data services. MetaSolv currently provisions numerous services over multiple network technologies for approximately 200 million subscribers globally.
Overall, MetaSolv’s 180 global service provider customers include Brasil Telecom, BT, Cable & Wireless, O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone. In July, MetaSolv also won a bid for IP activation with a North American Tier 1 and a European cable provider. This ILEC selected MetaSolv after a thorough analysis of competing products and vendors.
David Sharpley, senior vice president of marketing and product development at MetaSolv said the deal is multi-year and has the potential to be multi-million as commensurate with deals with carriers of this size. “It’s not just theoretical. It’s real,” he said. “We have people deployed, and we have already received orders against the agreement.”
