Global Crossing VoIP On-Net Plus Service eliminates the need for customer premises equipment, enabling enterprises to use any routing protocol as they migrate to an all-IP network at their own pace. VoIP calls are handled on-net to the 600 cities in 60 countries that the Global Crossing network reaches, and protocol conversions between IP and traditional TDM calls are handled within the network. Businesses are thus allowed to connect all sites over a single platform without having to convert every site to VoIP simultaneously.
“VoIP On-Net Plus empowers enterprises to reap the immediate advantages of IP convergence with existing infrastructure and without disrupting their existing voice VPNs,” said Anthony Christie, Global Crossing's chief marketing officer. “Advantages include implementing voice VPNs using a single dial plan, which end-users can easily manage through Global Crossing's online portal, uCommand(R) for enhanced productivity. Our network-based VoIP services also enable enterprises to achieve lower total cost of ownership as they seamlessly and securely migrate to a converged IP network.”
The VoIP On-Net Plus service supports private dialing plans using between four and 16 digits, and allows customers to access a secure, centralized routing plan database via uCommand portal 24 hours a day to create or change dialing plans. Call routing can be customized to enable incoming calls to be routed to different locations based on time of day or to enable disaster recovery.
The new VoIP VPN service is fully integrated with Global Crossing’s other VoIP services, and can provide call detail records for VoIP calls as well.
