VON: Net2Phone offers SIP-based enterprise services
BOSTON -- Net2Phone Tuesday announced new enterprise VoIP products, aimed at small to mid-sized enterprises. The products include VoiceDirector, an IP-PBX paired with local and long-distance service; VoiceAccess, which offers inbound and outbound calling on existing PBXs or key systems; and VoiceLine Business Plus, a bring-your-own-broadband service aimed at companies or SOHOs who only need one to two lines of service.

The SIP-based products are based on Net2Phone’s existing VoiceDirector server, said David Span, senior vice president of product management and marketing for Net2Phone.
“This is an extension of what we’ve been working toward,” he said. “These are our first business initiatives using SIP – our others have used the Net2Phone protocols.”
VoiceAccess offers the lower cost calling associated with VoIP for international and long-distance but the VoiceDirector service is a more robust offering, he added.
Net2Phone will sell the services largely indirectly, through resellers, channel partners and cable companies.
“Our focus is still residential broadband,” said Span. “This is being offered in addition to that.”
In addition, the company continues to expand its business with smaller rural cable companies, said Richard Gilbert, vice president of strategic marketing.
“We are marketing our VoiceLine SIP-based product to rural cable companies and Tier 2 cable providers,” he said. The company already has more than 10 such customers and is working with National Cable Television Cooperative to expand that base.
