Brady Rafuse, president and chief executive officer of Level 3 Communications’ European business and president of its content markets group, has resigned, the company confirmed to Telephony today.

A Level 3 spokesperson said Rafuse left for personal reasons related to his family.

James Heard, president of Level 3’s European business, will assume Rafuse’s CEO position there. And the content services business will be helmed by Grant van Rooyen, previously a senior vice president in that group. Rafuse held both roles since 2006.

The news comes less than a month after Level 3’s chief operating officer, Kevin O’Hara, left the company.
