The thirty-year company man replaces Takanobu Yoden, himself a thirty-year veteran of FNC who retired from the company in June after four years as CEO.

Ikeuchi first came to FNC in 1975, when he was hired as an engineer to help develop coaxial and optical networking products. He ascended the management ranks of the company’s transmission group through the late 1980s and early 1990s. In 1994 he was named senior vice president of the photonic systems group.

Ikeuchi holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology University.
