Covad Communications today announced the latest in its series of new service rollouts, a DS-3 or 45-megabit-per-second offering, bonded T-1 services up to 12 Mb/s, and network-wide quality of service (QoS) guarantees, all aimed at helping its wholesale customers deliver more access bandwidth to their enterprise customers.
“This is wrapping it all together to signify we have completed our comprehensive assets portfolio,” said Tadashi Egami, director of product and channel marketing for Covad. “If you step back and look at what Covad has to offer – everything from DS-3 to bonded T-1 to address market needs across the bandwidth spectrum up to 45 megabits per second.”
Covad has been upgrading its network capacity and adding MPLS capabilities to make more bandwidth available to its wholesale partners for advanced service offerings, Egami said. “Now that we have a complete access portfolio, we are layering in value-added services with QoS.”
Still to come are Ethernet service offerings promised this spring by Covad’s new chief technology officer, Aamir Hussain.
The new DS-3 and bonded T-1 offerings enable Covad’s service provider customers to offer more bandwidth and also open the door for a broader array of enhanced service offerings, Egami said. One of the customers commenting on the new services was Glowpoint, which provides videoconferencing services that connect disparate networks.
