Psytechnics, once part of BT before being spun off many years ago, has solutions in the area of user experience performance management that will be combined with NetScout`s Unified Service Delivery Management strategy, a comprehensive approach to managing quality of IP voice, video and telepresence service delivery. Psytechnics’ Experience Manager software already manages more than 1 million VoIP users in the U.S. and Europe, the companies said. NetScout, meanwhile, has its own legacy of experience in performance monitoring for conferencing services.
The concept of video quality of experience gained ground in the IPTV sector during the last decade, but also has been increasingly important in the enterprise sector with the rise of high-end telepresence videoconferencing.
Psytechnics is based in Ipswich, England, but also operates a U.S. base in Portsmouth, N.H. After the deal is completed, which is expected to happen in the first quarter of NetScout’s 2012 fiscal year, Westford, Mass.-based NetScout plans to bring Psytechnics’ engineering team on board.
