Lucent and Bell Canada gave very few specifics about the deal, not revealing the breadth of the deployment or the financial value, but a Lucent spokesman said it represents Lucent’s first major inroad with a major Canadian carrier.

The AnyMedia solution allows carriers to provide both data and voice services and supports both narrowband and broadband DSL connections, making it an all in one solution that will replace the standard DSLAM, the spokesman said. Lucent is also supplying Bell Canada with its Navis element management system, which monitors and provisions and controls voice and data services administered by the AnyMedia equipment.
