The new solution is intended to provide Rainbow with the beginnings of a process that will streamline content management across both video and data-oriented platforms.
“The key trend here is the radical shift in content creation from analog to digital,” said Gabriele Di Piazza, worldwide of director of rich media solutions for HP. “Content needs to be managed in a digital way and repurposed.” As part of the process, HP is performing what it calls a “holistic review” of Rainbow’s current and planned systems and processes for digital content management across its family of properties including American Movies Classics, WE: Women’s Entertainment, The Independent Film Channel, muchmusic usa, Mag Rack, News 12 Networks, Rainbow Sports Networks and the MetroChannels.
“We are talking about sitting with Rainbow’s management and analyzing their process and production teams,” Di Piazza said.
One of the goals will be figuring out ways to repurpose Rainbow content across multiple mediums. Among the potential benefactors: wireless users who could end up with Rainbow-based content on their handsets, Di Piazza added.
“There hasn’t been much targeted at this channel but now there is more and more pull and demand,” Di Piazza said.
