Equant made its Intrusion Detection service available to its worldwide customer base, incorporating both machine and human security monitoring into the same platform.

Starting with Cisco Systems intrusion detection gear to identify suspicious network activity, Equant has contracted with Ubizen to provide certified security specialists to continually monitor network traffic flow, tract suspected hacking activity on the network and to respond to intrusions in real time. Equant officials said the combination of computer and human defenses makes its security services one of the most robust in the market today, fully secure against attacks of the highest magnitude.

Equant officials said operating such a security operation would cost a company three times as much as buying the global carrier’s security services as the cost of playing technicians to monitor data flow around the clock would strain any company’s security budget.
