Using the unbundled network element platform (UNE-P), ACN leases local loops from the incumbents offering both local and long-distance services to customers in 13 states on the eastern seaboard and the southwest. With access to all of Covad’s 1800 DSL-equipped central offices in the top 96 metro markets, ACN plans to add DSL to the bundle in those 13 markets and expand both voice and data services to 15 new states as well as challenge Verizon in its California ILEC territory in the first quarter.

In the last year, Covad has secured dozens of line-splitting agreements with carriers across the country, providing DSL for AT&T and MCI as well as smaller competitive carriers like MegaPath and ACN.
