SAN FRANCISCO—Mobile gaming developer and publisher Blue Lava Wireless announced here at the CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment conference 12 additions to its portfolio of titles, including new versions of its popular “Tetris,” which Sprint announced today is one of two wireless games to earn “platinum” status with one million downloads on the carrier’s deck.

“Tetris” joins Jamdat Mobile’s wireless bowling game in crossing the one million-download threshold. “Tetris was a huge success in Japan, and we knew we would have the same success here,” said John Ray, Blue Lava’s vice president of business development.

The company will attempt to repeat its success with “Tetris Battle,” a head-to-head, carrier-agnostic multiplayer game—Blue Lava’s first—that enables gamers to compete in real time against fellow users as well as “Tetris Puzzle,” which delivers new variations on the game’s basic puzzle theme each day or each week.

Other new entries into the Blue Lava portfolio include puzzle game “Yucatan,” the latest from “Shanghai” creator Brodie Lockard, and the role-playing fantasy “AltEarth.”
