Using its line-splitting agreement with Covad, AT&T is now offering ADSL services in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Kansas. Since launching last year in New York, AT&T has been targeting primarily Verizon and SBC territories in its nationwide broadband rollout. It deployed in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan in the Midwest; Texas and Virginia in the south; and Maryland, Massachusetts and New Jersey on the eastern seaboard.

Both MCI and AT&T last year launched aggressive deployment plans since Covad began offering line splitting in an effort to match the RBOCs in voice/data bundling deals. With a slight head start AT&T began turning on its first lines late last year and has since committed to offering the data service everywhere it offers local voice service. AT&T plans to have local services in 46 states, serving an estimated 4 million customers. The company has not released any specific DSL numbers.
