The company wasn’t giving out specific numbers at Comptel to prove its success, other than to say it has more than 700 carriers and facilities in 161 countries on which service providers can get quotes and prices, and do ordering and provisioning via the Vanco Net Direct Portal.

“This is a sign of pure globalization – the world is getting smaller,” said Liam Brohan, senior vice president of Vanco NetDirect. “Companies don’t want to have separate IT organizations around the world. Ease of use is very important. A DSL circuit in Hong Kong is just like a DSL circuit anywhere else so the ability to provision it from a portal is valuable. It gives them an easy way to provision worldwide.”

And while service providers are seeking to differentiate their services, the underlying services “are a commodity,” Brohan said.

The vast majority of Vanco’s business is with service providers, although the company “won’t prevent enterprise customers from finding the Website and using it,” he said.
