Zayo Group continued its buying ways, announcing Thursday it has acquired the wholesale unit of Citynet, the Tulsa, Okla.-based service provider. Citynet Fiber Services has 8500 route miles of fiber covering 57 Tier 1, 2 and 3 markets in 10 states.

This is the sixth acquisition for Zayo, which earlier this year announced a strategy of building itself into a broadband force in underserved markets by acquiring underused or distressed fiber properties. Citynet Fiber Services will become part of Zayo Bandwidth, one of three operating units the company established in a reorganization announced last month.

“CFN’s network compliments our existing metro and regional networks by increasing our fiber footprint in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions,” said Dan Caruso, CEO of Zayo Group, in a prepared statement. “CFN has an excellent customer service, installation and maintenance reputation and we look forward to combining the best practices and capabilities of both companies.”
