Level 3 lands MySpace

Level said today that social networking site MySpace.com had signed a multi-year agreement for high-capacity IP service.

Terms of the agreement were not announced. Level 3 is initially providing MySpace with High-Speed IP Service in multiple markets, the company said.

MySpace operates a popular and often controversial social networking sites where millions of customers post personal blogs, including photos and videos, as well as email messages.

"We selected Level 3 because of the proven performance of its network and Level 3's ability to support increasing high bandwidth demand," said Aber Whitcomb, chief technology officer of MySpace, in a prepared statement.

"We are excited to be working with MySpace to support their high capacity needs and their delivery of video services," said Brady Rafuse, president of Content Markets for Level 3, also in a prepared statement. "MySpace is a clear leader in delivering content for online social networking, and this agreement underscores the growth we are seeing in demand for our services in this important segment."
