After released second quarter results on Thursday, DirecTV CEO Chase Carey said the firm is “actively engaged in talking to an array of parties that are participating in (wireless) broadband... about various forms of relationships.”

According to a DirecTV spokesman, those discussions are in very early stages and there is no current plan to enter the wireless broadband market.

On Thursday, DirecTV reported a second quarter profit of $210 million or 12 cents a share, compared with a loss of $13 million in the second quarter of 2004. The company reported higher margins, but much slower subscriber growth.
