DirecTECH and MasTec collectively serve all nine states within BellSouth’s region, said Jim Rozier, senior director of video initiatives for the MDU market. Working with the two companies, BellSouth will be able to offer joint proposals for voice, data and video service tailored to the needs of specific property developers and homeowners’ associations, he said.

“We see that from the needs of a developer, the MDU market and the greenfield single-family markets are somewhat similar,” he said. “They want the triple-play bundle, they are looking out for the residents either by buying in bulk fashion or trying to make sure their residents only deal with providers who will give them top quality.”

The solutions the companies will jointly provide will vary, however, depending on the type of development, Rozier said. BellSouth may negotiate an exclusive deal with developers while in others, it may be selling the service in bulk.

“That’s been the most attractive, and we have been getting quite a bit of that business, of late,” he said.
