Alestra interconnects several markets within Mexico, including Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara, as well as four markets in the U.S. It provides voice, data, IP and broadband services to both the residential and business sectors.

MetaSolv turned up its service activation platform last week after a first-quarter sale to Alestra for activating traditional voice services.

"The first phase is for activating all their voice services with the intent to leverage our multi-service capability into other service domains," said David Sharpley, vice president of marketing for MetaSolv.

MetaSolv replaced a legacy system within Alestra. This sale gives MetaSolv approximately 25 customers in the Caribbean-Latin American region.

Alestra, a joint venture between Alfa, AT&T, and Bancomer Visa, is AT&T’s extension into the CALA region and is branded as AT&T service.

"This sale demonstrates our commitment and focus in the CALA market," Sharpley said. "As we continue to win deals in activation, it really sets us up as a leader in the segment."
