MetaSolv nabs Tier 1 for VoIP activation
Following the announcement two weeks ago that it now is a cash-flow positive company, MetaSolv Software this week announced the signing of a Tier 1 carrier in the U.S. to provide voice-over-IP activation.

Although the carrier is unnamed, it accounts for MetaSolv’s second Tier 1 in North America (the other being Canadian) and compliments the work it is doing on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean with BT.
"This win, coupled with the work we are doing with BT and in Canada, gives us pretty good momentum in the VoIP domain," said David Sharpley, senior vice president of marketing for MetaSolv.
The carrier has begun implementing the solution and expects to have it operational by the end of this year. MetaSolv is already supporting the carrier’s IP/VPN activation. However, this is a new contract and not an extension of its existing contract.
"It is new and was a hotly contested piece of business," Sharpley said. "But besides the magnitude of the business and the size of the carrier for us, it shows that operators are making investment decisions in order to bring VoIP to the marketplace."
The carrier is a global provider that will likely deploy initially in a single geography, but does have a global strategy for streamlining its systems and processes, Sharpley said.
MetaSolv turned cash-flow positive in time for founder and former CEO, Jim Janicki, to leave on a high note. Janicki left the company on July 31. He had named former chief operating officer, Curtis Holmes, as the CEO in July of 2003 and had been acting as the company’s chief software architect.
