MDSI signs workflow contract with U.S. ILEC

MDSI Mobile Data Solutions got an early Christmas present last week in the form of a new contract with a U.S. local exchange carrier. MDSI will provide the carrier with approximately 2100 licenses of its Advantex r7 workforce management software.

The unnamed carrier will us MDSI Advantex software to automatically schedule and dispatch work orders used by field workers, supervisors and dispatchers across its 20-state region.

Advantex also will allow the carrier to reduce field workers' driving time by optimally sequencing work orders and identifying the best route between assignments. New time reporting features also will help workers minimize downtime while completing their daily timesheets.

Based in Richmond, British Columbia, MDSI was founded in 1993 and has approximately 325 employees. The company has operations and support offices in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia. MDSI services approximately 100 customers and has licensed more than 80,000 field service users around the world.

Two weeks earlier, MDSO signed Time Warner Cable to a contract in its Rochester, N.Y. division, which has approximately 220 field workers.
