The agreement resulted from the integration Lucent did for Hot Telecom, a competitive cable and VoIP provider in Israel, where it used San Mateo, Calif.-based Kagoor’s VoiceFlow 3000 for border control along with its own converged IP Multimedia Sub-system (IMS) solution. IMS helps service providers deliver multimedia voice, video and data services to enterprises and consumers.

"Lucent is an extremely strong sales channel and a partner that can bring us into more Tier 1 accounts," said Opher Kahane, CEO and co-founder of Kagoor Networks. "They are very aggressive in bringing together the next-generation network."

Lucent will make Kagoor’s VoiceFlow part of its IMS solution to help resolve voice-over-IP (VoIP) issues such as security, protocol interoperability, interworking and service assurance.

Under the non-exclusive agreement with Kagoor, Lucent will sell and market Kagoor’s VoiceFlow 3000 product worldwide as part of its Accelerate portfolio of products and solutions for next generation networks. Business and residential communications services supported by the integrated solution include hosted IP PBX, IP Centrex, voice-over-broadband and voice virtual private networks.

Though the deal is non-exclusive, Kahane said, "As long as we provide Lucent with good products, good service and good support in both product integration efforts and field engagements efforts, I believe we will get a large number of their engagements."

The companies have completed interoperability testing and together their products will enable service providers to deliver VoIP applications across a network-hosted network address translation (NAT) device, VPN aggregation, network protection, carrier traffic exchange (peering) and enterprise border control.

Earlier last month, Kagoor and MetaSwitch, a Class 5 softswitch vendor, said they would create a joint solution to facilitate VoIP deployments by allowing carriers to deliver VoIP signaling and media across borders and firewalls.

In June, Kagoor signed a global reseller agreements with Siemens Information and Communication Networks and in April signed up Fujitsu to resell its products in the Asia Pacific region.
