CTIA: Qpass supports AT&T Wireless Wi-Fi effort
NEW ORLEANS--Qpass announced at the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association’s Wireless 2003 event that its Prosperity Series software is providing the back-office support functions for GoPort, the Wi-Fi service AT&T Wireless is offering in conjunction with Wayport. The Qpass software supports registration, authentication, subscription and billing for the GoPort service, said Tom Trinneer, vice president of products for Qpass.

Qpass also announced at the CTIA show that it is managing more than 1 million subscriber accounts on behalf of its carrier customers. AT&T Wireless also uses the Qpass software for its mMode and Free2Go services. Other announced customers include Cingular Wireless, for its DirectBill service, and the Accenture/Toshiba Wi-Fi hotspot initiative, Trinneer said.
“We believe we have some thought-leadership advantage,” Trinneer said. “This is an end-to-end management system, not just a billing system."
Qpass raised $12.7 million in its Series B funding round in February 2003. Trinneer said the company is fully funded.
