TelMex is Mexico’s largest operator and will be Cramer’s third or fourth largest customer. TelMex has more than $11 billion in annual revenue.

Cramer will implement the latest version of its inventory-based software, Cramer 5, which it released last month at TeleManagement World. Cramer 5 will handle provisioning and service assurance for TelMex’s frame relay and MPLS network, known as UniNet, which provides virtual private network services to its corporate customers.

Although this is the first implementation of Cramer 5, CEO Jerry Crook said the new release was not fundamental to winning the business. “They were more interested in Cramer’s overall value proposition,” he said.

The bid was awarded after TelMex whittled the vendors down from a list of about seven. “It was a large well-known opportunity within the OSS community,” Crook said.

The implementation is underway and being implemented by one of Cramer’s large integration partners. “This is a significant win because it signifies the start of what we expect to be a very long relationship. We are already talking with TelMex about where we go from here,” Crook said.

It also is significant to Cramer because with a month and a half to go in its fiscal year, the company has met its operational plan for the year.

“We are determined to expand our presence in [North America]; it is vital to our success as a global company,” Crook said. He added that globally Cramer was taking on a telco customer every month and a Tier 1 customer every quarter.
