Convergys consolidates Vivo’s billing chaos

Brazilian mobile carrier Vivo has hired billing and customer care vendor Convergys to implement a new billing system to support 6 million post-paid customers and replace the six disparate systems currently used by Vivo to support those customers.

Deploying the Atlys billing system from Convergys will allow the carrier to launch new wireless services and service bundles more rapidly, the companies said. The new contract builds on an existing business relationship between Vivo and Convergys.

Vivo operates a CDMA 1X network with more than 23 million customers, making it the largest mobile service provider in South America. Atlys is Convergys' end-to-end billing and customer care product for wireless voice and data carriers, which uses the same modular component-based architectural framework as its Infinys business support software.
