TELUS, Canada’s second largest telecommunications company, will use Amdocs’ billing and order management solutions and associated implementation services to create an integrated platform for customer care, billing and ordering.

Amdocs has been providing solutions to Telus Mobility for about five years. “They had made a number of acquisitions in Quebec and we worked with them to consolidate a number of systems,” said Mike Couture, vice president of marketing at Amdocs. “We have a very good relationship with Telus Mobility and it was certainly an important factor in their decision to go with us.”

At Telus Communications, Amdocs will consolidate multiple legacy systems to deliver unified ordering, and billing capabilities. The solutions and services supplied by Amdocs will integrate the various systems that support Telus customers throughout their life cycle and lay the foundation for integrated customer management.

“We look to achieve similar goals in terms of consolidation,” Couture said. “Consolidation across services is an important part of the wireline side of the business.”

The terms of the contract were not given. However, Couture said given that it is an incumbent North American wireline provider implementing a complete billing and order management system while consolidating multiple other systems, the deal is significant.

He also said it is a sign of overall market improvement. “There haven’t been many North American wireline companies making moves on the billing side in the last few years. We see that changing now,” Couture said.

A timeline for implementation was not given.
