Agilent focuses on wireless service quality at TMW

The active call test system can test for key performance metrics such as service availability, round-trip send and receive intervals and voice quality mean opinion scores. It can be used for video telephony services, multi-media streaming, mobile instant messaging, unified messaging, SMS, MMS and e-mail.
Agilent’s push e-mail test solution measures the availability and performance of push e-mail services that are delivered to Blackberry or other wireless e-mail devices. It is a real-time service assurance solution that measures delivery and performance from the edge of the operators’ network to the client device and from the client’s mail server to the device.
"Blackberry users are typically an operator’s more high-value customers," said Gary Barton, business development manager for Agilent.
The push e-mail solution would be used by operators on certain devices including special client software to test performance, not on individual client devices.
"Before this solution, the only way to test such services was for operators to physically load SIM cards into devices and go out and test them manually," Barton said.
