VocalData wins 20th customer, eyes financing

WASHINGTON DC--VocalData, maker of the VOISS IP telephony feature server platform, announced at Comnet that SelectConnect, a CLEC in Mississippi, is deploying its platform. The carrier is VocalData’s 20th customer for the platform, and the win comes as the vendor is pursuing its Series C funding round.

SelectConnect’s IT manager Joe Moffat said the VOISS solution allows the carrier to host local and long-distance voice and Internet access for business customers at much lower cost than a T-1 line.

“Our carrier customers can give their customers an average cost savings of about 20% compared to what the ILECs might offer,” said Laurie Shook, vice president of marketing at VocalData.

She added that VocalData is currently engaged in a funding round it hopes to culminate around May of this year. “We are hoping to raise around $10 million, and we are seeing a lot of interest so far,” she said.

The vendor has a goal to earn about $12 million in revenue this year against tight competition from Broadsoft, Sylantro Systems and others. It expects its fastest growing market to be system integrators that might sell into both carriers and enterprise customers. Sales to CLECs also will remain a high growth area.
