Presentation a BFO? HTH
Instant messaging software vendor Omnipod today released its list of the top 10 acronyms typed out by corporate IM users. In a survey of 1500 Omnipod customers, the most commonly used acronym was BRB (“be right back”). Perhaps most surprising is that three acronyms on the list--BRB, CTRN (“can’t talk right now”) and IAM (“in a meeting”)--deal with the inability to chat.

Also on the list: IMO (“in my opinion”); HTH (“hope this helps”); WFM (“works for me”); BFO (“blinding flash of the obvious”); DHTB (“don't have the bandwidth”); IHMB (“I hate my boss”); and SLAP (“sounds like a plan”). Acronyms commonly used in everyday speech, such as FYI or ASAP, were not included in the survey.
Omnipod specifically targets enterprise users in traditional office settings, but is expanding its platform to include mobile users as well.
“The majority of users would be on a PC, but we’ve started to integrate SMS capability so users will be able to communicate with a wireless device,” said Ryan Alexander, president and COO of Omnipod.
