PNG will launch an IP Centrex service in the first quarter of next year followed by a residential VoIP offering in the second quarter. Both services will use the same Sylantro platform, which will operate off Veraz Networks' tandem softswitch and media gateways.
The company’s launch will include click-to-call, find me/follow me services along with a private-brandable, browser-based portal. Unlike many other VoIP providers, PNG has the advantage of not being a true start-up, said Evelyn Miller, marketing communications manager for Sylantro.
They’re start off from a very strong base," she said.
Like vendors in the application space, Sylantro is pushing hard to develop new services that will prevent the VoIP market from devolving into a price war. On the residential side of the market, many of those applications will incorporate wireless elements, said Bernard Gutnick, vice president of product marketing for Sylantro.
"There’s a spark from what you’ve been accustomed to in mobility coming to the wireline market in things like access to messaging from anywhere and with any device," he said.
