“We can reach any market if we have service provider demand,” said a company spokeswoman. “What we are saying today is that we have invested in acquiring phone numbers in the 80% of the country where we expect demand.”
Net2Phone is marketing a SIP-based service, VoiceLine, and a DOCSIS-compliant cable service, CableLine, to both U.S. and international carriers. As part of its expansion, the company has also acquired phone numbers enabling it to serve Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, and Hamilton in Canada, as well as an 800 number for calling into the United Kingdom.
Net2Phone currently has more than 100,000 U.S. customers and “hundreds of thousands” of international customers, according to the company. It also has cable operator customers both in the U.S. and overseas, according to the spokesperson. Its U.S. cable customers include Millennium Digital Media, Bresnan Communications and Rural West, as well as Liberty Cablevision in Puerto Rico. The company partnered with Motorola and Cedar Point Communications to develop its comprehensive cable telephony package.
