IPWireless expands reach into New Zealand

New Zealand broadband telecommunications provider, Walker Wireless, will use IPWireless mobile broadband technology to deploy commercial and residential fixed broadband wireless service across major New Zealand markets covering about 50% of the country’s population, the companies said.

Walker Wireless, which successfully trialed the gear in Auckland, has placed follow-on orders for gear to deliver broadband services to consumers and business in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Additionally, IPWireless said it has secured over $27 million in additional funding from its major existing investors and an external strategic investor and that the funding brings the company’s invested capital to over $150 million since its founding in early 1999.--Jim Barthold, senior editor
