Actiontec adds wireless piece to DSL product offering

Actiontec Electronics has integrated a wireless-ready SHDSL modem integrated into its business-class networking router to provide wireless-upgradable DSL and networking for small and mid-sized businesses.

The company’s Symmetrical Integrated Access Device combines a full-rate SHDSL modem with a four-port 10/100 megabits per second [M/ps] Ethernet switch. The wireless upgrade is accomplished by adding an 802.11b wireless PC card to cone of two open card slots in the product, which is available in both standalone and rack-mountable models. The second slot supports an expansion card to extend the device’s network functionality, the company said.--Jim Barthold, senior editor
