All Access, which is targeting the high-end multi-dwelling unit segment, initially will launch service in the Miami area with plans to expand to more 40,000 units. The company’s fiber-to-the-user network also will offer voice over IP using Cisco Systems and Lucent Technologies gear as well as high-speed data service.
“They have a really aggressive schedule,” said Randy Shapiro, vice president of marketing for Eagle Broadband. “They want to get going as quickly as possible and hopefully within 90 days they’re going be offering service.”
The IPTVComplete solution gives All Access a package of Eagle’s video content, headend infrastructure and set-top boxes while Globecase provides satellite distribution between Eagle’s head end and a local serving office.
The company initially launched the combined service earlier this year with an emphasis on targeting independent telcos that don’t have the resources to build their own head end. However, the MDU-oriented provider also represents a potentially rich market, Shapiro said.
“Clearly there is a need for bundled services in MDUs,” he said. “It’s a pretty good way to get a captive audience and in terms of the take rates, it’s a very good business model.”
