Report: Nortel invests in optical vendor

Nortel Networks is taking a minority stake in optical networking vendor Tejas Networks, according the Economic Times.

Nortel is investing about $3 million in the seven-year-old India-based company, according to the Times. And warrants would vest with Nortel for each $5 million in products it purchased from Tejas.

In January, Tejas announced having nearly $50 million in total funding from investors including Guraj “Desh” Deshpande, the co-founder of Sycamore Networks. Tejas sells Sonet/SDH gear to handle Ethernet traffic.
