Lucatel names more top management

Alcatel and Lucent Technologies named more executives today to fill out the top management of the combined company after the two vendors merge.

Alcatel’s chief technology officer, Olivier Baujard, will become the new company’s CTO. Helle Kristoffersen, Alcatel’s vice president of corporate strategy, will retain that role in the combined company. And Jeong Kim will remain President of Lucent subsidiary Bell Labs.

Baujard, Kim and Kristoffersen will report to Mike Quigley, Alcatel’s current chief operating officer and the merged company’s president of science, technology and strategy.

Lucent’s chief marketing officer, John Giere, will hold the same title in the combined company. And Elizabeth Hackenson, Lucent’s chief information officer, will lead the combined company’s Information Systems/Information Technology organization. Giere and Hackenson will both report to Chief Administrative Officer Frank D’Amelio (Lucent’s current COO).

The two companies announced 15 other appointments to top management earlier this month.

The new appointments strike a more even balance between Alcatel and Lucent representation in the new company’s leadership. Of the 20 appointments to top management announced so far, 11 are Alcatel executives and nine are Lucent executives.

As both companies’ COOs will change roles after the merger, no COO has yet been named for the combined company.
