Following up quickly on Friday’s announcement of the formal close of the acquisition of Nortel’s voice-over-IP and application assets, Genband today laid out its new management team in its first all-hands meeting as a much larger, even more ambitious company.
The highest-place mover from the old Nortel CVAS is Jeff Townley, who was named president of operations. His responsibilities include professional services, support, manufacturing and supply chain. Townley is a 26-year vet of Nortel’s global operations group.
The day’s other notable appointee came from outside both companies, with Genband naming Daryl Raiford, formerly of Freescale Semiconductor, as its new chief financial officer – managing the revenue line for the now larger Genband. With the acquisition the vendor grows from 500 to more than 2200 employees.
Other highlights and data points from today’s meeting:
· The combined company has product and support centers in Plano, Texas (gateways); Billerica, Mass. (SBCs and security); Ottawa, Canada (platform and apps); Raleigh, N.C. (architecture and services); Istanbul, Turkey (call control and apps); Noida/Bangalore, India (SBCs and security); Ho Ch iMinh City, Vietnam (verification); and Shanghai/Beijing, China (EMS and hardware).
· Product deployment numbers include: 123 million-plus VoIP ports deployed, 36 million-plus TDM lines (from 14 different switch vendors) migrated to VoiP and 2500 switches remotely provisioned. Overall, Genband said it expects its next-generation network ports deployed to grow from 73.8 million in 2009 to an estimated 218.8 million by the end of this year.
· In addition to CEO Charles D. Vogt, Genband highlighted additional senior management team members, including Jan Gaulding, chief administration officer, responsible for human resources, legal, IT and facilities; Pablo Gargiulo, president of global sales; Mehmet Balos, chief marketing officer; Keith Landau, chief product officer, responsible for R&D, product line management and quality; Fred Kemmerer, chief technical officer; and Mark Pugerude, chief strategy officer.
